Work on an internal server categorization tool on the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team using
Python, Redis, Docker, Jenkins, Linux command line, and Ansible tools.
- Spearheaded the rapid transition for hosting our technology on virtual machines. Resulting in
minimal downtime during the final changeover. - Restored operations in 1/4th the allotted time whenever our system suffered an outage.
- Due to key higher-level departures, volunteered to take up some of the missing tech lead
responsibilities such as task assignments and training.
United States Marine Corps
Aug 2011- Aug 2015
Firepower Control Team Chief
2014 – 2015
Supervised the training and operations of a small team tasked with conducting close air support and artillery/naval gunfire missions with foreign national armies. Designed and operated computer-based scenarios that tested the user’s knowledge, stress management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Managed logistics for 50+ serialized items and 200+ non-serialized components resulting in zero losses throughout over 15 dynamic local, interstate, or international training operations.
- Led a team of 3 individuals through daily physical fitness drills, classroom instruction, and a variety of high-stress combat scenarios, increasing the team’s overall proficiency by over 15%.
- Implemented the use of trigonometric functions on a grid-based map system, allow the users to calculate differences in angle and location when map coverage was unavailable.
Joint Fires Observer
2011-2015
Directed and controlled military aircraft and surface artillery systems in the safe and accurate completion of attacks. Additionally, taught a multitude of classes to spread this expansive skill set to non-joint fires observers and foreign military units.
- Safely and effectively executed 100+ live airstrikes and artillery missions throughout many dynamic combat simulations and exercises.
- Instructed a total of 200+ foreign military personnel from 10 different countries to successfully direct American aircraft, artillery, and naval weapon systems. This instruction more than doubled their access to air and surface support assets.
- Redesigned the Marine Corps’ terrain sketch format providing 3 times the data and allowing missions to be conducted approximately 40% faster than the previous design.
- Honor Graduate of the Marine Artillery Scout Observer Course while simultaneously tutoring 5 struggling students, all of whom passed.
